Fall 2024 Soccer Season

Fall Soccer Kicks Off on September 14th

Fun for boys and girls of all ages, from EC-4 to 8th Graders.

Soccer is one of the most recognized sports to develops your child's coordination skills, while challenging their mental and physical conditioning. The YAP Soccer program is designed for your child to have fun, teach soccer fundamentals, and develop teamwork skills in a safe environment. The success of our season will be determined by your child's improvement in these areas alone, and not by the number of wins or losses.

IMPORTANT DATES
Our soccer program is run in the fall.

Registration

  • Registration starts August 1st
  • Registration Closes August 22nd in preparation for player draft.
  • LATE registration open until August 27th
  • Teams finalized by end of August.
  • First game scheduled for Saturday September 14th.

Fees

  • Registration fee is $110.00.
  • Late registration after August 22nd is not guaranteed, however in the event a late registration is approved, there will be a $30 additional charge
  • Cancellations prior to September 5th are available for a full refund. Cancellations after that date  will result in a $20.00 surcharge.

Teams
Each team will have approximately 8-10 players.
Coaches will hold a player draft after registration to choose players and organize teams.
The draft determines how players are assigned to respective teams.
Pre-existing teams will not be preserved. No guarantee of placement accommodations on preferred teams, with the only exception available to volunteer coaching staff.

NOTE: Coaches are responsible to notify team members of upcoming practice schedules determined by coach's schedule, field availability and various other factors. Parents can expect to be contacted by their coach in early September.

Games
Soccer Season game schedule will be announced following the player draft night, and each game will be one hour in duration. Teams are tentatively scheduled to play one game per week, each Saturday.

Experience
Previous experience is not necessary.
Practices will include basic skills, teamwork drills, and game strategy.
Parents are encouraged to work with their children on techniques learned at practice.

Practice
Your coach will determine team's practice day / time and then notify team members via email, after draft has been completed.
Each team will have one practice per week, approximately 1 hour in duration, weekdays at the St. Lawrence field.

Schedule Accommodations
Once player registration is completed and closed for this sport a draft will be held.
Only after the draft can YAP coaches and staff inform parents of the practice day(s) for your child's team.
Practice Days are determined considering volunteer coach's schedule, field availability and various other factors.
We cannot guarantee accommodations will be available to solve for individual player's previously existing conflicts.

Again, keep in mind, in the event cancellations are required after September 5th, there will be a $20 surcharge retained.

Coaching
We highly encourage all parents to volunteer to coach and/or assistant coach their child’s team.
It is a great way to experience what YAP is about, and earn points along the way!  Head coaches will receive 15 parent points and assistant coaches will receive 10 parent points.
No experience is required to coach.

  • U6  (Grades EC-4 & Kindergarten)
  • U8  (Grades 1st & 2nd)
  • U10 (Grades 3rd & 4th)
  • U12 (Grades 5th & 6th)
  • U14 (Grades 7th & 8th)

Uniforms and Equipment*:

Jersey (provided by YAP)

*Shorts, Socks, Cleats, Shin Guards, and Water bottle (supplied by player)

*Soccer Ball - U6, Size 3 ball

*Soccer Ball - Grades 1-8, Size 4 ball

Age Groups / General Rules
• U6 (Grades: EC-4 & K) - will play 4 vs. 4 with no goalie and two 25-minute halves with a five minute halftime. Coaches are allowed on the field to direct players and will serve as referee.

• U8 (Grades 1st & 2nd) - will play 5 vs. 5 (including a goalie) and two 25-minute halves with a five minute halftime. Coaches are allowed on the field to direct players only if deemed appropriate and one certified referee will be present.

• U10 (Grades 3rd & 4th) - will play 6 vs.6 (including a goalie) and two 25-minute halves with a five minute halftime. Coaches are not allowed on the field to direct players and one certified referee will be present.

• U12 (Grades 5th & 6th) - will play 6 vs.6 (Including goalie) and two 25-minute halves
with a five minute halftime. Coaches are not allowed on the field to direct players and
one certified referee will be present.

• U14 (Grades 7th & 8th) - will play 6 vs.6 (Including goalie) and two 25-minute halves
with a five minute halftime. Coaches are not allowed on the field to direct players and
one certified referee will be present.

PLEASE NOTE: Once registration is completed and closed for this sport, YAP coaches and staff will send emails to inform all parents of the practice day(s) for your child's team.  If you don't receive an email prior to early September, please reach out to tampayapboard@gmail.com.
