The YAP Basketball program is designed for children in Grades 1- 8 to have fun learning the fundamentals of basketball, in a safe and encouraging environment. Drive teamwork, enhance confidence, and build leadership skills. No previous basketball experience required.
Whether you're looking to introduce your child to the game of basketball for the first time, or build their skills from previous experience, this is the place to do it!

  • Registration: Important Dates
    • Registration ends January 31st
    • Late registrations closes February 5th 
    • Team assignments and game schedule released early February
    • First game is scheduled for Sunday February 23rd 
      All Basketball Games will be played on Sundays in St Lawrence gym, between 1-4pm. 
  • Schedule
    YAP Basketball will have 8 total games per team, over the course of 7 weeks. Each team will have at least one weekend with 2 games. Game times will vary according to your child's age group starting at 1pm, and games will be approximately 50 minutes in length. There are no playoff games.  Scheduled game days:

    • February 23rd
    • March 2nd, 9th, 23rd, 30th
    • April 6th
  • Fees
    • Registration fee is $110.
    • Late registration after January 31st cannot be guaranteed; in the event a late registration is approved, there will be a $30 additional charge.
    • Cancellations after team assignments (and jersey order) will be subject to $20 surcharge.
  • Team Placement
    Once player registration is completed, coaches hold a player draft in to choose players and organize co-ed teams of 6-7 players. The draft determines how players are assigned to respective teams. Pre-existing teams will not be preserved.  No guarantee of placement accommodations on requested teams, though every effort will be made to do so. Parents should expect to be contacted by respective coaches in by February 19th.
  • Age Groups
    • U8 (Grades 1st & 2nd)
    • U10 (Grades 3rd & 4th)
    • U12 (Grades 5th & 6th)
    • U14 (Grades 7th & 8th)
  • Coaching
    We need parents to volunteer to be head coach or assistant coach for their child’s team. It is a great way to learn firsthand what YAP is all about, and earn service points along the way! No previous coaching experience is required.
  • Practices
    Your coach will determine the team's practice day/time and then notify team members after teams assigned.  Practice times will be based on court availability. In the registration, please indicate which days do NOT work for your child, and every effort will be made to accommodate.
  • Uniforms and Equipment**:
    • Two-side Reversible Jersey (provided by YAP)
    • **Black Shorts (supplied by player)
